All five Iberia orchestrations by Enrique Fernández Arbós (1863–1939) available: Evocation / El Corpus en Sevilla / Triana / El puerto / El Albaicin

Isaac Albéniz's "Fête-Dieu à Séville" forms part of his monumental piano cycle Iberia, completed in 1908 and representing the pinnacle of Spanish nationalist composition. The work captures the fervent religious atmosphere of Corpus Christi celebrations in Seville, blending the composer's sophisticated harmonic language with authentic Andalusian folk elements. Albéniz's mature style synthesizes French impressionistic influences with deeply rooted Spanish musical traditions, creating a uniquely evocative soundscape.

Originally conceived for piano, the piece gains orchestral color through Enrique Fernández Arbós's masterful arrangement, which translates Albéniz's complex pianistic textures into rich symphonic writing. The orchestration enhances the work's characteristic interplay between sacred solemnity and popular celebration, employing the full resources of a large orchestra to evoke the processions, street festivities, and religious devotion of Seville's most important feast day.

This orchestral version stands as one of five Iberia arrangements by Arbós, who was instrumental in bringing Albéniz's piano masterpieces to concert halls worldwide. The work exemplifies the early 20th century's embrace of national musical languages while demonstrating the international appeal of authentically rooted Spanish composition during the period of musical nationalism.
