Symphonic poem In the South Spain

Chabrier's orchestral showpiece was composed in 1883 and received its premiere in November of that year in Paris under the baton of Charles Lamoureux, founder of the now famous orchestra bearing his name. Inspired by a vacation to Spain taken the year before its composition, Espana is a superb example of the Spanish-genre showpiece - featuring driving rhythms, brilliant orchestral colors and folk-derived melodies.

A standard set of parts consists of one of each part plus extra strings 3-3-2-1-1 for a total string count of 4-4-3-2-2. Full scores over 96 pages are 10 x 13 inches on 80-lb offwhite stock while those up to 96 pages and parts are 9.5 x 12.5 inches and printed on 70-lb offwhite stock, self-covering, stitched or folded. Serenissima is proud to be the only authorized publisher for the Nieweg editions.
